Well this weekend was a busy one!
Parkrun Saturday:
Locally, we had Matt T, Paul J, Mariana and Chris at Cardiff with Chris using as a warm up before a fell race in the afternoon!
Tremorfa parkrun had Joey, Andrew, Sue & Kev with Harry T making a trip over to Cosmeston.
In Llanishen, Niall, George, Heledd , Ceri and John C took part but it’ll be John’s last for a while after a freak injury on the way home.
Craig ran at Riverfront with a bunch of mates and newest member, Harry S, ran at Pontypridd.
Aislin and Jack did Weymouth parkrun with Alec & Helen doing Riverside in County Durham.
The remaining parkrun attendees visited Brueton on the way to the National Running Show. @brooksrunninguk offered out the Ghost Max to trial which was taken up by two of the group.
The highlight was celebrating Margaret’s 90th birthday - a local lady who took up running at 70 and did a marathon at 72!
Phew, we'll be looking at compiling some of our parkrun pics in a web feature..watch this space!
And...
Chris was the sole club representative at the Craig Yr Allt Winter Fell Race on Saturday afternoon (after his Cardiff parkrun warmup 😅) with roughly 120 runners on the day taking on the 3.9 mile course which has a 984ft elevation gain.
In this sharp run just north of Cardiff, a lot of the brambles had been cleared so only minimal damage was caused to the legs of the runners as it’s very narrow in places, so taking advantage of any passing opportunities is paramount!
Sunday Race & Long Runs!
Back in late October, a whole host of alarms were set for an early start to secure a place in the Lliswerry 8. We had 16 runners making the start line with a few others having to pull out on the morning due to injury.
The rain stayed off but the wind was seemingly blowing a gale wherever you turned the corner!
In total, we had 3 PBs (two of which were by 2 minutes for Craig & Simon), 3 first timers and one time exactly the same as last year. Despite nine running slower than their previous outing, the race proved to be a solid training run for bigger goals 💪🏽
Thanks as ever to @lliswerryrunners for their car park marshalling skills, master bakers 👩🏻🍳🤭 and course marshals & supporters!.
